In this post, we’re going to review 10 GPT3 examples, including a ChatGPT like chatbot, a text rewriter, a prompt to change the voice of your content, prompts to generate headings and paragraphs, and more. For each GPT3 example, we’ll include the prompt, the Open AI playground settings, the prompt’s completion, and any trial and error we experienced while designing the prompts.
To experiment with GPT3 prompts, like the examples in this post, you need access to the Open AI Playground. We won’t cover the playground in this post, but we do have a fantastic article that does – Learning The OpenAI Playground Step By Step. Give it a read if needed.
Below are 10 high-value GPT3 examples. Variations of these examples are commonly used in several software packages, including our very own wordbot.io tool. Let’s Get Started.
This prompt was designed by OpenAI and provided in the playground as an example. I don’t know if it is one of the actual prompts that ChatGPT uses, but it certainly could be. The stop sequences of both Human and AI in that order and the injections of the same name are key to this prompt producing high quality completions.
The following is a conversation with an AI assistant. The assistant is helpful, creative, clever, and very friendly. Human: Hello, who are you? AI: I am an AI created by OpenAI. How can I help you today? Human: How do I change my password
AI: Sure, no problem. First, go to the login page and click on the “Forgot Password” link. This will prompt you to input your email address associated with your account. Then, you will receive an email with a link to reset your password. Once clicked, you will be asked to enter a new password. Human:
This prompt will convert content that is written in passive voice to active voice. There weren’t too many challenges designing this prompt. We have found that using placeholders in the instructional text which match the labels in the remainder of the prompt work well for us. Also, we struggled to produce consistent high quality results from this prompt when using the Curie model, so we chose to use the Davinci model. You could significantly trim cost by tweaking this prompt to produce consistent results with Curie.
Rewrite “Text:” to be in active voice and put the result in “Active Voice:” ### Text: The staff are required by the company to watch a safety video every year. Active Voice:

This GPT3 prompt rewrites text, specifically it will paraphrase a sentence three times. We use a variation of this prompt within our wordbot text editor. It was very challenging to develop, with us spending several weeks on it. The biggest challenge was making Curie produce consistent, high quality results.
Paraphrase “Sentence:” three different ways into “Paraphrase 1:”, “Paraphrase 2:”, “Paraphrase 3:”. Do not repeat the “Sentence:”. Always return “Paraphrase 1:”, “Paraphrase 2:”, and “Paraphrase 3:”. Make “Paraphrase 1:”, “Paraphrase 2:”, and “Paraphrase 3:” be as brief as possible. ### Sentence: The man walked his dog in the park. Paraphrase 1: The guy took his dog for a walk in the park. Paraphrase 2: The gentleman had walked his dog in the park. Summarize this for a second-grade student: wordbot.io is quickly marching toward its goal of being the best sentence rewriter online, and in this article we’re going to explain why. Wordbot is an online software as a service (SaaS) website designed for rewriting and summarizing text. As it is today, it’s very much still an MVP (minimal viable product) launched by me and two others in the Fall of 2021. Although we’re considering raising capital going it full time, as of now we’re very much a bootstrapped startup, meaning we work our day jobs and then work early mornings, evenings, and weekends to build out and improve wordbot. ###

The key to making this prompt produce consistent, high quality results are the labels ending in colons included in the prompt instructions. Ohio is a great place to grow grapes, as the climate is very similar to that of many of the wine-producing regions of Europe. There are a few types of grapes that will do well in Ohio, including the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. It is important to note that Ohio is not a Napa Valley, and the wines produced here will not taste the same as those produced in California. However, Ohio wines are usually well-made and can be quite good. There are a few things that you can do to make them even better, including aging them in barrel for a few years.
