We will rewrite a paragraph pulled from a Harvard Business Review article titled Design an Office that People Want to Come Back to. It’s the first paragraph in an article discussing the importance of the office and remote work in a changed, ongoing COVID19 world. The paragraph consists of four sentences.
As the Covid-19 crisis enters its third year and the Omicron variant surges, organizations around the world are contemplating how, when, and even if to have their knowledge workers resume regular in-office hours. And they do so at a time when the views and priorities of their employees have shifted. A recent McKinsey study showed that well-being, flexibility, and work-life balance are top of mind. A survey Microsoft conducted last year indicated that 41% of the global workforce would consider switching jobs in the next year, with 55% noting that work environment would play a role in their decisions.

Wordbot returned three rewrites, all slightly different. The first rewrite was the shortest, reducing the original sentence by a whopping 11 words. Wordbot achieved the reduction by rearranging words and dropping the part about omicron surging. The second rewrite comes in at 39 words, four words longer than the original. It does a great job rewording the text, changing some parts of the sentence entirely, and rearranging the parts of the sentence. The third rewrite for the first sentence comes in at 34 words, one under the original. Like the second rewrite, it does a nice job of rearranging words, swapping in different words, and restructuring parts of the sentence. All three rewrites did a good job of rewording the sentence while keeping its original meaning.
And they do so at a time when the views and priorities of their employees have shifted.
And it's happening during a time when their employees have different thoughts and ideas from what their CEO wants.
And it does so when the views and priorities of their employees have shifted.
And during this time, the views and priorities of their employees have shifted.
The first rewrite comes in at 19 words, two more than the original, and offers the most radical rewrite of the three. Not that it’s radical, but instead of saying the priorities of employees have shifted, it reads they’re different from what their company’s CEO wants. This is an assumption that may or may not be true. The second and third sentences come in at 14 and 13 words and are very similar. They are essentially more succinct versions of the original sentence.

A recent study from McKinsey has shown that well-being, flexibility, and work-life balance are the top of mind for many people.
The rewrites for this sentence weren’t much changed from the original. The first rewrite dropped McKinsey, the second added the Institute of Business, and the third left it at McKinsey and shifted some words around and added words to the end.

At 34 words, this was a long sentence to rewrite. The rewrites came in at 35, 38, and 38. This sentence like the previous had stats and names that couldn’t really be removed or changed, so producing rewrites was challenging. I feel our prompt did a good job with what it was given. It created three nice variations by rewording, changing sentence structure, etc.
We asked Wordbot to rewrite a paragraph, broke it down sentence-by-sentence, produced several rewrites, and now piece it back together. Below is the rewritten paragraph. It comes in at 96 words compared to the original 103 and is written quite differently while still holding the original meaning.
